I like Allan Green. I became intrigued in Allan’s game when he flat out ruined Jaidon Codrington’s career by delivering one of the most brutal knockouts I have ever seen. Green talks a ton of smack too and during the build up to this fight he let the media know how disrespected he felt by being left out of the Super Six to begin with and vowed to make a statement to the boxing world by taking it out on reigning WBA champ Andre Ward. Let’s just say he didn’t. Either Andre Ward is that good or Green wasn’t ready. Maybe it was both because Ward simply manhandled Green. This fight wasn’t close from the opening bell. I hate to say this but I honestly thought Jermain Taylor would have put up a better fight….seriously. Ward played the role of bully in the ring as he roughed up Green against the ropes all night long..............
Andre Ward defended his WBA super middleweight championship while
winning his Group Stage 2 match of the Super Six World Boxing Classic
tournament with a shutout performance over a very subdued, Allan Green.
All three judges had identical scores of 120-108 for the champ, fighting
before his hometown crowd, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland California,
telecast by Showtime. The fight was fought in an eighteen foot ring that
was thought to favor the challenger because it would limit the movement
of his opponent. Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) felt that he had been dissed by
not being included in the tournament from its inception and was on a
mission to make a spectacular statement in the ring, that would show the
world, he belonged there. The first round started with both fighters
being cautious as they threw jabs and ended up in clenches. Referee Raul
Caiz Sr. had his hands full separating the fighters throughout the
night. Allan was quite effective at cutting off the ring, but before he
could set up, Ward (21-0, 13 KO’s) would move in, smothering him. The
champ landed more punches, winning the round. As the fight progressed
the fighters began to move in different directions, as far as their
goals were concerned.........

This coming Saturday, June 19th, will mark the return of the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament that has been a real barnburner since its inception, last fall. Six of the top fighters are vying for supremacy in the super middleweight division. Group Stage 2 of the tournament will begin for WBA Super Middleweight champ Andre Ward, who will be throwing down before his hometown crowd at the Oracle Arena in Oakland California, taking on Allan Green, who entered the mix after Jermaine Taylor decided that his second KO in as many fights was something he needed to meditate on, and KO’d himself from the tourney. Ward (20-0, 13 KO’s) is coming off of a.........

The Super Six Tournament match up between WBA Super Middle Champion Andre Ward against Allan Green has landed another date. The bout has been rescheduled to take place on June 19th in Oakland. Two weeks ago Ward postponed the April 24 bout because of a problem with his surgically repaired right knee. Allan Green and his team were highly upset with the pullout but now with another date scheduled this might ease their frustrations…slightly. Green let it be known after hearing the news of the fight being postponed that he didn’t think Ward would ever fight him and accused him of ducking him. Now it seems they will meet after all and the camps seem ready to get it on. This will be Ward’s second fight in his hometown and this fight should be a very exciting match up......

A training injury to WBA Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward’s knee has caused another blow to the Super Six Super Middleweight Tournament title bout which was scheduled for April 24th against Allan Green in Ward's hometown of Oakland. The fight has been postponed for 6 weeks. Ward has had surgery on his knee previously from a pickup basketball game injury. "I want this fight in the worst way, and am very excited about it. I have been having recurring problems with my right knee," Ward said. "I went to camp and tried for a week and half to two weeks, and I can't run like I'm supposed to. I want Allan Green to get an Andre Ward that's 100 percent, just like I want an Allan Green that is 100 percent."
