WBC welterweight titlist Andre Berto (25-0, 19 Kos) returns to action on April 10th to make his fourth title defense against former titleholder Carlos Quintana (27-2, 21 Kos) of Puerto Rico at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, FL. Berto had recently taken a leave from the sport to help with Haitian relief benefits after the devastating earthquake struck his homeland of Haiti. Berto is a strong, hungry, champion with extremely fast hands and could pose major problem for the elusive Quintana.

Top Golden Boy Junior Welterweight prospect Danny Garcia of Philadephia picked up a hard earned victory in the co-feature of Friday Nights Fights on ESPN2 against Ashley Theopane. Scores were 95-94, 96-94 and 94-95. Garcia moves to 16-0 (10 KOS) with the victory. Garcia showed a lot of will and determination throughout this hard fought bout. Theopane had success early on landing solid right hands but as the fight wore on Garcia picked up the pace and outworked Theopane who appeared to tire near the end of the bout. The loss drops Theopane to 25-3-1. Bouts like this usually serve young fighters well throughout their career. Be on the lookout fight fans for Garcia, he seems to have all the right tools to become a world champion.

At least that’s what Freddie Roach had to say about Manny Pacquiao."If Mayweather doesn't come around after this fight and sign to fight us, this could be our last one," Roach told East Side Boxing's On The Ropes show. This seems to be bait to get the fight Roach and Pacquiao wanted and a fight the world wanted…a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. That mega fight was ruined because Mayweather’s camp wanted Pacquiao to submit Olympic style drug testing which would require blood samples, which Pacquiao refused. Of course Pacquiao the pound for pound king still has to take care of business on March 13th on HBO against Joshua Clottey who by the way is no tomato can by no means, and I expect a very competitive bout.......
